Under the Digital Renewal Operational Programme Plus, the grant application entitled “Development of a Big Data-based IT decision support platform for plant breeding and variety evaluation”, submitted by ALFASEED Kereskedelmi és Szolgáltató Kft. on 30 May 2025 in response to the call for proposals published by the Ministry of Energy, as the Funding Body, under reference number DIMOP_PLUSZ-1.1.2/B-24, has been assessed by the Funding Body and found eligible for support.

The aim of the project is to develop a big data- and artificial intelligence-based IT decision support system that facilitates plant breeding and variety evaluation processes on a unified digital platform. The system integrates phenotypic, genotypic and environmental data, processes them in a structured form and aids professional decision-making with predictive analyses.

The core element of the development is an intelligent data processing module that performs automated data collection, cleansing and analysis, taking Genotype × Environment interactions into account. Users receive not only reports but also forecasts and decision alternatives that increase the accuracy and reliability of breeding decisions.

The project starts at TRL 4; its goal is to create a working prototype validated at multiple sites and then, in a later phase, to reach the level of a commercially marketable product. The business model is subscription-based, scalable and suitable for entering international markets.

The project creates a decision support platform based on artificial intelligence and big data
analysis, offering an integrated, predictive solution in the field of plant breeding and variety evaluation. The
development increases the accuracy of decisions, reduces time and cost expenditure, and lays the foundation for the
market launch of a digital product that is competitive internationally as well.
