Since its foundation, Alfaseed Kft. has paid particular attention to research and development and to plant breeding. In recent years, the company has built up professional, technological and infrastructural capabilities that provide a solid basis for implementing the development project now being launched.

The aim of the project is to create new plant parent lines and hybrids that can adapt better than current varieties to changing environmental conditions, including drought, high temperatures and more extreme weather. In this way, the project can help to increase the predictability of agricultural production and the security of the feed supply.

During the project, Alfaseed Kft. uses modern biotechnological methods alongside conventional plant breeding techniques. As part of the research work, new parent lines are being created and tested, and new hybrids are being developed and evaluated in field trials.

The project is also supported by the purchase of new equipment. Among other things, a seed conditioning and drying chamber and modern seed sorting equipment assist the research and breeding work.

As a result of the project, new plant lines and hybrids may be created which, thanks to their improved agronomic and nutritional quality traits, can also contribute to sustainable and secure agricultural production in the longer term.
